Information on Illinois Marriage License's
Requirements:
· The bride and groom must appear together at the time of application. Medical records and blood tests are not required in Illinois.
Who may apply:
· Anyone 18 years or older, are not blood relatives may marry without parental consent.
· First cousins 50 years or older
· Persons 16-17 years of age applying for a marriage license must provide the following information. Sworn consent from each parent, legal guardian or a judge - in person – before the county clerk at the time of application. Those given consent must provide proper identification, including valid drivers license; valid state identification; valid Illinois Department of Public Aid card; or valid passport. If the legal guardian is giving consent, a certified copy of the guardianship papers must be provided.
What to Provide:
· You must provide one of the following pieces of information to receive your license.
· Valid U.S. Drivers License
· Valid U.S Passport, U. S. Military Identification Card.
· Valid Illinois Department of Public Aid care (the I.D. and the medical card)
· If the above is not available, you must provide two of the following: Certified copy of birth certificate; U. S. naturalization papers; A valid foreign passport; A baptismal record showing birth date of applicant; All consulate identification cards.
Cost
· Depending on the county $15.00 to $30.00 payable in cash
Waiting period
Expiration Of License
· There is a 24-hour waiting period between the time the license is issued and the time it becomes valid. The license is valid for 60 days from the date of issue and must be obtained in the county where the ceremony will take place.
